Back from Cincinnati
After 4 days in Cincinnati meeting lots of cool people, we're back in Austin. Played a solo show in Dallas this weekend with The Real Heroes from Austin. I've seen them play in Austin about a dozen times, but it was fun to see them at the Barley House. The two hour set time made room for lots of obscure and cooly arranged covers. After hearing them effortlessly work a phrase from "Every Picture Tells a Story" into one of their own originals, it occured to me that this band is one of the best around.
Lots of activity following the NACA conference. There may be a solo tour in California in my future this Spring. Also finalized Kissinger shows at Emporia State and Manchester College (a co-sponsored event with our favorite venue, The Firehouse). Lots of touring to come in the Fall after recording the new record.
Am reading Balzac (Eugenie Grandet), and listening to Mando Diao obsessively between replaying my recent favorites: The New Pornographers and Mclusky.
Rock and roll,
