New Stuff
It's been a long time since our last show. The pictures on the Kissinger Fan Page say it was May. It feels like even longer than that. We've been plenty busy since then. We wrote 15 new songs, picked our favorite six, and recorded demos of those. My summer consisted of daily rehearsals/recording sessions along with lots of secret meetings. And at the end of the summer, I married the lovely Catalina de Loren. Now in the wake of a Belizian honeymoon, Kissinger is putting together a new live set to take out on the road for the next few months.
For those of you who have seen Kissinger in the past, there may be a few more changes beyond the new ring on my finger. Writing these new songs has caused us to push ourselves musically in a new direction. Spending 3 months off stage (our longest hiatus in almost 6 years!) has given us new perspective. When you come see us, we may not be leaping off amps as often as in the past, and we won't be opening with John Bates. Our new songs seem to bridge the always curious gap between the brainless adrenaline of a song like Rock and Roll Asshole, and the ultra dreamy feel of Girl on the Bus (which we've never been able to pull off live).
Our goal on this tour is to play better, to sound better. While the subtle differences in musicallity may get lost in some acoustical halls such as "Kirby's Beer Store," We're still going for it. As we keep growing, we keep pushing ourselves. Over the last year and a half Lucky nearly learned how to fly. Now we want to make you fly. So please come check out the new set, listen to the new songs here on our site, and let us know what you think. You can always email us your thoughts at kissinger@kissingertheband.com
